Jay Watts as new Administrator

Our Mission: Columbus Christian Academy, in partnership with parents and area evangelical churches, strives to provide a Christ-centered education of excellence to enable students to soar in truth and wisdom and to become men and women of true faith, equipped to stand strong for Christ and impact their world for eternity.

Dear Members of the CCA Family:

After prayerful consideration, the Columbus Christian Academy School Board is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Jay Watts of Ruleville, Mississippi as Columbus Christian Academy’s new Administrator.

A nationwide search was conducted, and produced highly qualified individuals from as far away as California and as close as our own hometown. We are extremely thankful for the search committee that consisted of three board members, two teachers, and two parents. The process of collecting and reviewing resumes was a tremendous task and these volunteers very carefully and prayerfully submitted four very accomplished candidates to the CCA board with second interviews on the final candidates.

We are excited to have attracted such an accomplished leader, experienced educator, and strong spiritual leader. Jay’s commitment to excellence and his commitment to partnering with families and churches to develop students to be effective Kingdom-building men and women are qualities the Board felt were essential to place as Head of our beloved school.

Jay has 30 years’ experience in Independent school education. While serving in various roles, he has been primarily in two very accomplished schools, Kirk Academy and Pillow Academy. He comes to us after 11 years of experience with Pillow Academy in Greenwood, Mississippi as Head of School with 800 students and the eighth largest private school in Mississippi. Jay has been a Teacher, Coach, Athletic Director, Principal, Dean of Students and Head of School.

Complimentary to his professional accomplishments and experience, Mr. Watts graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics at Mississippi State University and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi State University. Additionally, he has served as President of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Coaches’ Association, President of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Educational Association, and served multiple terms on the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Athletic Activities Commission.

Mr. Watts officially becomes the Administrator at CCA on July 1, 2017. However, as any great leader would, he will be on our campus getting to know students, faculty, and families immediately. He has worked it out to be in Columbus with us a couple days a week through the end of school and until he starts July 1st.

The School Board would like to express to our families our deepest appreciation for your prayers and patience through this extensive process. Again, we thank the search committee members for their work, our pastors for their guidance and direction, our accrediting agencies for direction, and most of all, our Lord that clearly had His hand on the entire process. We are grateful for all of you and grateful for the many great things ahead for CCA under the leadership of Mr. Jay Watts.

Prayerfully and Sincerely,

Columbus Christian Academy Board of Directors Officers
